Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
