He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
