The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 and the sea that is full 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
