۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
