Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
