And remember Ibrahim in the Book; he was very truthful, a Herald of the Hidden (a Prophet). 41 He said to his father, "Why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor benefit you in any way? 42 "O my father! Verily! There has come to me of knowledge that which came not unto you. So follow me. I will guide you to a Straight Path. 43 O my father! serve not the Shaitan, surely the Shaitan is disobedient to the Beneficent Allah: 44 Father, indeed I fear lest a punishment from the Gracious One afflict you, and you become a friend of Satan." 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 Abraham replied, "Peace be on you: I will pray to my Lord for your forgiveness, He has indeed been gracious to me, 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 So, when he went apart from them and that they were serving, apart from God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each We made a Prophet; 49 And We granted to them of Our mercy, and We left (behind them) a truthful mention of eminence for them. 50
