The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
