The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
