Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven will split asunder so on that day it will be unstable. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a lofty Garden 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
