The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Will pray for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
