The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
