The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
