The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
