Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And ten nights, 2 and the even and the odd, 3 And the night when it departs. 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Have you not seen what your Lord did to the 'Ad 6 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 All of them committed excesses in their lands, 11 So they made great mischief therein? 12 (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment; 13 Verily thy Lord is in an ambuscade, 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 and you urge not the feeding of the needy, 18 And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. 19 And ye love wealth with inordinate love! 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 And when the command of your Lord comes – and the angels row by row, 22 And when hell is brought that day – on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? 23 He will say, “Alas – if only I had sent some good deeds ahead, during my lifetime!” 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing Him. 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30
