By the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning to mankind, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
