Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
