The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the breath of morning 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
