The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
