The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 and the roof uplifted 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
