The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
