The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and defilement flee! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Burning the skins! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
