The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
