He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
