The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
