The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the mount. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
