The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
