The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
