By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 excusing or warning, 6 BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass). 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 Even thus shall We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Created We you not of water despicable, 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 Till a limit known? 22 So We proportion it-- how well are We at proportioning (things). 23 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water? 27 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 Walk on to the covering having three branches, 30 Neither shady nor protecting against the blazing Fire. 31 The fire will shoot out sparks as big as huge towers 32 "As if there were (a string of) yellow camels (marching swiftly)." 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 This is the day they shall not speak 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 If you have any plans, use them. 39 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 40
