And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
