The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 Living therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
