The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
