The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
