The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
