The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments purify! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And children present [with him] 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
