The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
