The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
