And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 He would have remained in its belly till the day when all will be raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They assert kinship between Him and the angels. But the angels know that they (the liars) will be arraigned (in Hell). 158 Exaltations to Allah above what they describe, 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah). 166 And indeed the disbelievers used to say, – 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that, verily, Our hosts - they indeed - would [in the end] be victorious! 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
