The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
