The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
