The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
