The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
