Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
