The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
