The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
