The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
