The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
