Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 but when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
