Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
