And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
