The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We also gave them Our Signs, yet they turned away from them. 81 Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 and whatever they had been earning proved of no avail. 84 And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 86 And indeed We have given you seven verses that are repeated, and the great Qur’an. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 And say: "I am a distinct warner," 89 As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians). 90 (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please). 91 Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account, 92 About their deeds. 93 Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the polytheists. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 Who set up along with Allah another god; presently they shall know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. 98 And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). 99
